Zimmerman Announces More Than $357,000 in Local Fire, EMS Grants

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dave Zimmerman (R-Lancaster/Berks) is pleased to announce more than $372,000 in grants that are being awarded to fire companies and emergency service providers in the district he represents.

“Our emergency responders answer the call no matter the time of day or the weather. They work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.” Zimmerman said. “In order to do so, they must be properly funded and these grants help pay for the training and equipment that’s needed to help them do their job.”

The list of grant recipients in the 99th Legislative District includes the following:

• Adamstown Fire Co. - $16,322.
• Bowmansville Fire Co. - $13,094.
• Brecknock Township Fire Co. - $16,322.
• Caernarvon Fire Co. - $16,322.
• Cumru Township Volunteer Fire Association - $40,322.
• Denver Fire Co. No. 1 - $16,322.
• Fivepointville Fire Co. - $13,524.
• Fivepointville Ambulance Service - $15,000.
• Friendship Fire Co. No. 2 of Mohnton - $14,385.
• Garden Spot Fire Rescue - $26,718.
• New Holland Ambulance Association - $30,000.
• Reamstown Ambulance - $15,000.
• Reamstown Fire Co. No. 1 - $13,739.
• Reinholds Community Ambulance - $15,000
• Reinholds Station Fire Co. No. 1 - $12,663.
• Schoeneck Fire Co. - $12,663.
• Smokestown Fire Co. No. 1 - $13,739.
• Stevens Fire Co. No. 1 - $12,018.
• Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services - $16,322.
• Weaverland Valley Fire Department - $28,322.

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
